Aim of the course
According to Bureau of Labour Statistics data, ladder-related incidents led to more than 150 worker fatalities and more than 20,000 nonfatal injuries in 2017. With that said, it is very important that employees take action to ensure this statistic reduces. On OSHA’s annual Top 10 list of most cited violations for the past two years, ladder safety was ranked seventh, showing that ladder safety needs to change.
This course will ensure that ladder safety within the workplace is increased and all employees understand the effects of poor ladder and step safety, whilst ensuring their individual safety is maximised. Many industries require the use of ladders, yet many employers are not suitably trained to do so.
The ladders and steps safety course is designed to provide delegates with an understanding of ladder safety and practices so they can perform tasks safely, whilst fully understanding the relevant health and safety legislations. The course will cover the following:
- Understanding the legislations for working at height
- Hazard analysis and risk assessment
- Product standards and classifications for ladders
- Product standards and classifications for stepladders
- Standards & Classifications
- Planning & Organising, Selecting & Using – STEP

- Theory Test & Practical Assessments
